Let us pretend that you are smart. I am not saying you are smart. We are just pretending. I will start this game by asking one simple question: is the unborn child human? Before you answer the question with obfuscation and incoherent platitudes, we need to answer the question whether the unborn child is human. The answer to this question is essential because it is at the foundational stages of all life on earth. Let me make one point clear. This post is not about the confused or traumatized teenager whomakes the mistake of aboritng her child because she received bad advice or could find any alternatives. This post is about an industry that preys on the young, the poor, and the uninformed.

Since we are pretending you are smart, you know that western law is based on natural law theory. Natural law establishes that human rights came before there were governments, kingdoms, and the modern nation states. The most fundamental truth regarding natural law is that rights belong to the individual by virtue of his humanity. According to natural law every human being, regardless of the stage of development or the ability for self-sustainment, has the inherent right to his life and no one has the right to end that life under any circumstances. The Bill of Rights of the United States constitution goes even further and established the three human rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as coming from the Creator, and not from the government. Therefore, according to natural law and the Bill of Rights, God, as the Creator, is the giver of rights, and those rights begin with life, which always begins at conception.

Humans have the right to life and to design their lives according to the best information available to them. But there is no human right to terminate another person’s life. Since all life on earth comes from the union of a man and a woman, and since women God’s gift and trust to bring her offspring to full term and life, it is inherent in her to be the caregiver of the developing child. Women have a womb whose only function is to grow, nurture, and bring a child to life. The womb in a woman does not exist for the woman. The womb in the woman exists for her offspring. Therefore, the “my body my choice” cliché that pro-abortion advocates are fond on using is one of the biggest lies ever invented in hell. A woman’s body is her body and that was the reason she engaged in sexual activity with a man. But once the child was conceived, that child is not her body, even if he/she is inside her.

God trusted women with the developing life of their offspring because he gifted them with an emotional and spiritual sensitivity that uniquely prepares them to love their children. But when women abandon God, they also abandon God’s greatest gift for them. Men find emotional and spiritual fulfillment in procreating children, and they trade off their independence and jungle-like behaviors for the blessing to provide and protect for their wives and children. Women find their greatest fulfillment when they carry a human being to term, and they trade off their independence for the blessing to find intimacy with a man and to bring this man’s children into the world.

More than 3,400 years ago Moses recorded the following: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). The phrase “shall become one flesh has been used for centuries to indicate that men and women are uniquely designed to be complimentary in their relationships. This phrase defines and limits marriage to one man and one woman. But I want to propose that there is one aspect of the phrase that has not been sufficiently discussed, which is the highest expression of the concept of becoming one, and it is the procreation and birth of a child. While there is an emotional and spiritual intimacy in the male female relationship that is not possible in other relationships, the reproductive organs are uniquely designed and equipped to bring life to earth. We are like God in that we have the capacity to reproduce the life God created in the Garden of Eden. Without reproduction, we cannot fulfill God’s primary purpose for our existence, i.e., “to be fruitful and multiply.”

Abortion is an act of rebellion, not only against God’s purpose and design, but against our own self-interest of preserving the human race and passing our lives to the future generations. Abortion is the evilest of all immoral acts because it is very specific in the rejection of God’s purpose for man. It is not a coincidence that the most ardent proabortion advocates are also vitriolic anti-God and anti-Christian Church. You can always find the supremely hypocritical “religious” leaders promoting the viciousness of dismembering children, but these individuals are, either repugnantly ignorant or have sold their souls to the highest bidder for fame, acceptance, and the worst of them, for money.

The question is: is the developing child human? I will answer the question first. The unborn child is a human in the early stages of development. If the developing child is human, then, the unborn child is not the woman’s body to do as she pleases. If the developing child is human, then, his mother’s choice to kill him is one of the most gruesome and callous acts any human being can commit. Like most crimes, this crime has the same motivation: a selfish, self-serving, and self-absorbed attitude that disregards the dignity of others. The thief robs became he wants money. The murderer kills for profit or revenge. But the abortion act is a purely selfish act that destroys three people: the father, the mother, and ultimate and finally the child.

Our society has become spectacularly successful in removing God from our hearts. The result has been the loss of our consciences. Without a conscience we cannot know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. It is ironic that Adam and Eve wanted to know the difference between good and evil, and yet, we seem to want the opposite. We don’t want to know the good. We only want to know what is evil, and then blame God for it.

If the answer to the question is that the developing child is human, then, the discussion ends. All the other platitudes and cliches are nothing more than excuses to soothe a guilty conscience. What about the cases of rape and incest? If you are intellectually honest, you know that the proabortion lobby is not promoting abortion to protect the less than one percent of women who in those two categories. So, let’s not kid ourselves with the red herring.
